About Australian Christian College Benalla
Australian Christian College – Benalla is a Christian, co-educational, P-11 school. The inaugural cohort of VCE students will graduate in 2026.
The School’s purpose is to transform young people spiritually, academically, socially and physically for lives of significance and service. We strive to educate students who act graciously and think biblically.
In 2024, the School has 145 students and 21 staff. Projected enrolments for 2025 will result in a student population of approximately 180.
As part of Christian Education Ministries (CEM) the School receives marketing, finance, property development, ICT, governance and operational support services.
About Christian Education Ministries
ACC Benalla is owned and operated by CEM and is a member of ISV and Christian Schools Australia.
CEM operates 15 Christian schools across Australia in addition to a home schooling service and childcare centres. CEM operated schools are recognised as delivering an authentic Christian education with staff who live out their faith on a daily basis.
As Christian Education continues to reinvent itself, CEM has transformed from a curriculum-centric philosophy to a teacher-centric approach.
The greatest impact on students is delivered by teachers who are passionate about learning, love children and understand the transformative power of the Gospel.
CEM is committed to attracting, retaining and investing into the very best Christian teachers and educators. Recruitment practices and culture building activities focus on growing a vibrant Christian faith among our staff. This is the cornerstone of our approach to Christian Education.
All CEM schools are committed to setting high expectations for staff and students in all areas of practice, with a clear focus on the development of personal character as the foundation for all other achievement.
Above all else, CEM is a ministry for our Lord Jesus Christ. We are motivated by God’s purposes, raising up young men and women to serve and glorify Him.
ACC Benalla’s Backstory
This school was established in the 1980s by a dedicated group of parents who sought to provide Christian education in their community. Despite their best efforts, enrolment remained modest, with student numbers hovering between 20 and 30 for many years.
In 2012, Christian Education Ministries (CEM) became involved, bringing renewed energy and resources to the School. While growth was gradual, student enrolment increased from its small base to over 50 students.
In 2019, CEM’s support was pivotal in securing a Block Grant Authority (BGA) grant for additional classrooms, enabling expansion into the secondary years.
In 2022, the School welcomed Mr Sam Woods as its new Principal. With a forward thinking and energetic approach Mr Woods continues to champion teacher-led instruction as the school’s signature pedagogy.
In 2023, the School transitioned to the GoTafe site (see photos) in Benalla, a move that provided access to state-of-the-art facilities and the space necessary for continued growth.
Beyond 2024
Shaping the Future of Our School Community
As we look beyond 2024, we are eagerly planning and anticipating several exciting developments that will further enhance the educational experience for our students and strengthen our school community.
In 2025, we will commence offering the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). This will allow our senior students to complete their secondary education with a recognised and respected qualification. To support this expansion, we are actively seeking VCE-trained teachers who are passionate about fostering academic excellence and contributing to the growth of this crucial phase of our school.
Additionally, we are excited to continue filling our buses serving families in Mansfield, Wangaratta, and Euroa. These private bus routes make our school more accessible to a wider community.
Our commitment to providing state-of-the-art facilities continues with the construction of a Science Laboratory set to begin in 2025. The new Science Lab comes straight off the back of the completion of a new playground in late 2024.
As we move forward, these developments reflect our dedication to offering an exceptional educational experience that supports the holistic growth of our students. We are excited about the future and look forward to continuing to build a thriving school community.
