Darren Lawson

Principal

Mr Darren Lawson is the Principal of Australian Christian College Moreton. Darren started his teaching journey as an Economics teacher after first working in banking and as a full-time cyclist. He has worked in private and state schools as well as spent time overseas teaching in Bible Colleges, Drug and Alcohol Rehab centres and as Principal of a K-12 Christian International School in Asia. He comes to ACCM after 8 years as Principal of a large regional K-12 Christian school achieving excellent student outcomes. Darren believes wholeheartedly in the power of Christian education to help students see and reach their potential and find their purpose in life. On weekends or holidays he enjoys cycling, kayaking and spending time with his wife and family.

Suzanne Fraser

College Deputy Principal

Sue is a passionate educator and a lifelong learner who loves to think laterally to solve problems and create new opportunities. Driven by her faith in Jesus Christ, she wants to help all young people achieve their God given purpose and use their gifts in service. Sue loves to travel and treasures her holidays with her husband, children and grandchildren. Inspiring the next generation and teaching them about Christ is her life goal.

Rhys Taylor

Head of Secondary (Distance Education)

Rhys has been with ACC-Moreton for over a decade now and held many different positions from Teacher, to Mathematics Coordinator, to 11-12 Coordinator and now Head of Secondary, and can be found teaching Business, Legal Studies or Mathematics depending on where the need arises. Mr Taylor’s particular passion is mentoring our DE Student Leaders as they navigate not only education in a distance education environment, but also how to serve and lead their community both locally and virtually.

Mandy Brecknell

Head of Primary Distance Education

Mandy is the Head of Primary. She has taught in all grades of primary school, both here in Australia and in England. Mandy loves to inspire and teach students to learn through fun, engaging activities, and strives to help all children to see their value and reach their potential. She enjoys snow skiing, competing jigsaw puzzles, travelling and spending time with family. She has a Science degree, and Masters in Education focusing on STEM subjects.

Tim Packer

Secondary Teacher

Tim has been a secondary school teacher for over 15 years, teaching in a variety of settings both within Australia and Internationally. Tim has taught in several arts and humanities subjects throughout his time in the education sector, however, his passion is for Film, Television and New Media which he has taught at a senior senior secondary level for many years. Tim enjoys relaxing at home with his wife and three children when he's not at school.

Simon Nicholls

Year 10 Coordinator

Simon is a senior Math and Science teacher and has a passion for helping students to understand numerical information in a data-driven world. At home, he has a wonderful wife and two young daughters, and he loves to play the drums in his free time (usually to music with strangely-numbered time signatures). He has a passion for developing students to become young Christian leaders whose influence will benefit society.

Carrie Croft

Year 7 Coordinator

Carrie is the Year 7 Distance Education Coordinator and teaches English, Humanities, Biblical Studies, Music, and Art in Years 7-9. One of her favourite things about teaching in Distance Education is the opportunity it gives to connect one-on-one with students to answer their questions and help them succeed. She loves creating resources to help students increase their knowledge and skills. Outside of teaching, Carrie enjoys sewing, playing piano, photography, exploring the great outdoors, and some friendly competition over board games with family and friends.

John Harker

Secondary Teacher

John first got into teaching because of his father's inspiration as a teacher, who is considered as legendary by his peers. John is passionate about teaching because he can help others to not just learn but find life. He seeks to bring this life to others. That is, as John teaches, he also wants others to not just learn well, but find ‘life in Him’. “I touch the future/eternity; I teach.”

Josiah Bishop

Secondary Teacher

Josiah completed his Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Science at the University of the Sunshine Coast. He is the Head of the Science Department at ACC Moreton. He is an Apple Distinguished Educator and is passionate about Science, Technologies and how they both integrate with education and learning. He loves travel and is hoping to get back into it in the near future. His favourite holiday is to go snowboarding.

Chris Collins

Secondary Teacher

There's nothing that Chris loves more than to worship God with creativity. You can often hear him singing along while writing the Senior English courses! Chris has been teaching for a few years, but is always eager to grow and try new things. By day, he teaches English and Religion and Ethics, and by night he leads the Creative Team at Citipointe North with his beautiful wife and adorable kids.

Glen Sinclair

Secondary Teacher

Glen teaches Secondary Biology and Psychology at ACC Moreton Distance Education. In his teaching, he is passionate about helping students see God’s handiwork in the living world around them. When time allows, Glen enjoys travelling and hiking with his growing family. Photographing these moments and the landscapes is a main hobby of his. Glen also likes sport, particularly cricket, rugby league and the odd game of table tennis.

Estelle Rasmussen

Primary Teacher

Estelle teaches in the Primary years within Distance Education. She is motivated by reflecting Christ's character through enriching relationships with children. Growing up in Redcliffe as the youngest of three, Estelle is a professional artist and developed a love for expressing Gods' creation through fine art. When not working, she enjoys surfing, kitesurfing, and painting.

Joyce Hres

Secondary Teacher

Joyce teaches Maths and Early Childhood Studies at ACC Moreton. She majored in Early Childhood to help children develop a solid foundation. Joyce furthered her studies and taught in Middle and Senior schools. She is passionate about life-long learning and hopes that students value education. Joyce desires that her students choose to have a personal relationship with Jesus and for them to desire that others know Jesus too. Joyce married her childhood sweetheart and they have 5 children.

Joan Pavey

Senior Pathways Advisor

Joan is the Senior Pathways Advisor at ACC Moreton. She discovered an interest in Careers/pathways while working with senior Learning Enrichment students and supporting them with their post-school pathways. She undertook further study and when the opportunity arose to expand her involvement in pathways across all of senior DE, she embraced it. She sees that the opportunities for students to achieve their dreams and goals in this day and age are amazing and she finds being able to participate and guide students in developing understanding of these very fulfilling.

Karen Gaffney

Secondary Teacher

Karen teaches Senior English at ACC Moreton. Karen brings rich and diverse educational experience to ACC Moreton, including working for many years overseas. She has a passion for students to learn the skills of critical literacy in all forms of media and literature. She is a wife, mother and grandmother of two whose greatest passion is to see those in her care, including her students, come to know the love of Christ in their lives.

Nina Johnson

Secondary Teacher

Nina teaches English and Humanities at ACC Moreton. Apart from witnessing the power of knowledge and seeing those ‘Aha!’ moments (indisputably teaching’s most rewarding experience), Nina loves the vast world of experience teaching opens up – literally. Nina has had the privilege to teach in a number of countries and her CV reads like the League of Nations. Nina, a self-confessed ‘crazy cat lady’, could be persuaded to swap teaching to be a lion-tamer or tiger-handler.

Karen Timmins

Secondary Teacher

Karen teaches in the primary years within Distance Education at ACC Moreton. She has always had a passion for reading and loves English and Humanities in particular. Karen is an advocate to incorporating digital technologies into lessons. She also loves travelling and has lived in many different states in Australia. She also loves encouraging students in their work. Karen has four sons who are all married with young families.

Shannon Roediger

Secondary Teacher

Shannon teaches Secondary Maths and Psychology at ACC. She has spent the last 10 years raising her 3 children, 8 years living in remote Australia and 7 years in serving in missions with MAF in Arnhemland, NT. Her passions in teaching include building relationships, resilience and well-being, and takes joy in seeing students smile. Outside of school, Shannon loves spending time with her family, exploring the outdoors, and spending time doing photography.

Vaughan Wright

Year 8 Coordinator

Vaughan Wright is a Middle School Maths and Science teacher at ACC Moreton's Distance Education Program. He completed a Bachelor's Degree in South Africa and immigrated with his family at the end of 2016. He has a passion for teaching Maths and enjoys seeing the 'light' come on when students master various strategies. Vaughan enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching sports and travelling. His favourite place is the Kruger National Park (South Africa) and loves taking photographs of wildlife.

Bruce Vaschina

Secondary Teacher

Bruce teaches Secondary Maths & Science via Distance Education at ACC Moreton. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and started full time teaching in 2014 after 24 years working for Brisbane City Council. He considers it a great privilege to help students along in their educational life while also bringing a little of God's Word into their lives as well. Outside of school Bruce is interested in tennis, cricket, theology and politics. He is married with 4 children.

Martin North

Secondary Teacher

Martin currently teaches secondary school Maths, Science and Business at ACC Moreton. Prior to being a teacher, he worked in various roles in the finance industry and enjoys being able to bring these practical insights into his teaching. Martin is passionate about seeing young people develop to their full potential. He is married with two children and enjoys spending time with family, friends and loves being active at the beach and in the outdoors.

Diane Everett

Learning Enrichment Teacher

As a teacher, Diane has taught mostly within Primary, particularly in the area of Inclusive Education. She is passionate about supporting students and their families and providing education programs specific to students' learning needs. Diane loves God, loves her family and loves connecting with others.

Ellen Crank

Learning Enrichment Teacher

Ellen has been working with our students who have additional needs for several years. She has an adult child with Autism/Asperger's and his challenging journey through the education system prompted her to upgrade her (ancient) teaching diploma to a Bachelor of Special Education. She loves working with families to help students with disabilities to feel positive about learning and future possibilities in life.

Kelsey Cabading

Year 11 Coordinator

Kelsey teaches Senior Visual Art and Design at ACC. She has a passion for sharing creativity in education and coming alongside young people to inspire creativity within their own work and in their faith. She practises art through a range of forms, including digital art, photography, clay sculpting and sewing. She absolutely loves the extremes of adventure and the simplicity of playing board games with friends. As an extrovert at heart, she delights in spending time with people - particularly having a good laugh, and sharing her Christian faith with others.

Konrad Slack

Primary Teacher

Konrad became a teacher because he enjoyed working with children and wanted to see them develop their abilities and skills and to have the opportunity to teach them about God. Konrad chose primary teaching so that he could teach a variety of subjects and have fun with students. Most of all, Konrad wants to glorify God in all that he does.

Louise Bocxe

Lower Primary Coordinator

Louise enjoys teaching all levels of primary. Outside of the classroom she loves the outdoors, travelling and especially dragging her family along on adventure holidays. Her favourite place is camping on the beach at Christmas, a time to unwind, read books and play board games.

Lucy Wells

Secondary Teacher

Lucy teaches Secondary Science and Mathematics. Lucy’s education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Science majoring in Biology and completed her Master of Teaching in 2020. In her teaching, she is passionate about helping students see God’s handiwork in the living world around them. Lucy is a passionate marine advocate, being involved with Reef Check Australia as a part of the survey team on the Sunshine Coast. Lucy enjoys travelling the globe and hiking in her spare time.

Mandy Towle

Year 9 Coordinator

Mandy is a passionate English/History teacher of many years, who loves sharing the word of God and subject content with her students. She is wife to Steve, Mum and Mum- in-law to Josh and Aimee, Julia and Jack, Nan to Cooper and fur grandchild Tinkerbell. In her spare time you will find Mandy reading, tending her roses or going on adventures with Steve. She grew up in Albion Park, NSW and is a loud and proud Blues supporter.

Mark Moulynox

Primary Teacher

Mark joined the Distance Education team teaching middle school Arts and HASS. He has been teaching Music and other subjects for the past ten years. Mark is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist and continues to perform and do recording sessions. His family is the original Brady Bunch except he has daughters, and his wife Judy has boys. They also have an “ours” Beccy, born in 2005. No Alice. Mark is always astounded by the incredible grace of God.

Melanie Lamprecht

Secondary Teacher

Melanie is a Science and Physical Education Teacher who is committed to inspiring students to tap into their curiosity and passion for learning. Melanie strives to help each student develop and be proud of the gifts and talents God has blessed them with. After finishing her Honours in Human Cell Anatomy, Melanie spent time teaching in South Africa, Singapore and Perth. Outside of work, she enjoys kitesurfing, photography and travel. Melanie finds herself continually grateful for the love and joy that God has given her and strives to share that love with those around her.

Mitchell Dean

Secondary Teacher

Mitchell teachers Senior Music and English at ACC Moreton. He worked as a private guitar, singing and piano tutor before becoming a teacher. He enjoys travelling with his wife, all things Star Wars, playing and leading worship music at church, writing and playing board games. He is passionate for building relationships with students and helping them to discover and pursue their love of music for the glory of God.

Samare Scarbrough

Secondary Teacher

Samare initially heard God’s call to become a teacher when she was training new processors at a large mortgage company. While raising her family, she embarked on the journey to earn her Masters in Teaching (Secondary). Graduating in 2020, she is passionate about impacting the lives of young people from all walks of life and encouraging them to develop a deep and meaningful relationship with their creator, God.

Alan Barrie

Seconday Teacher

Alan is teaching Secondary History and English. He has extensive experience in Queensland Education, having been a teacher for 23 years, Chief Examiner, Syllabus and textbook writer for Senior Ancient History. He has also been involved with teacher training as a University Tutor. Alan is passionate about all things to do with History but also loves exploring and experiencing life's many adventures with friends and family.

Peter Dell

Secondary Teacher

Peter cherishes every moment with his family, his church, his beloved Cavoodle, and his ever-evolving technology. Over the last 12 years, he has passionately taught technology across various educational levels, from prep to university and everything in between. Peter not only enjoys playing games in his free time but also immerses himself in programming them, aiming to bring new ideas to life. A fervent fan of everything pop-culture, he often dreams of visiting Japan and experiencing its vibrant culture firsthand. Above all, Peter holds onto his favourite saying, “I have been to the moon and back, because my imagination is a powerful, boundless entity.”

Trish MacDougall

Year 3 to 6 Coordinator

Trish joined ACC in 2022 after 15 years of teaching in South Africa, the UK, and now Australia. Trish loves teaching and feels blessed to work in a Christian community where she can encourage others and openly share her faith. She is passionate about seeing students discover their identity in Christ, including their abilities and talents. Trish enjoys reading a good book and dabbling in creative pastimes. When not exploring new places, she can be found watching her two boys play sport on the weekends.

Darren Gynther

Secondary Teacher

Darren recently made the switch to Distance Education after spending 30 fantastic years in the classroom. Despite thinking you couldn't teach an old dog new tricks, he has since been proven wrong, and loves how Distance Education can be so flexible and fit so many different situations. Darren says that if he had to go back to school, he would do Distance Education. When not teaching, you'll find him on his mountain bike or cheering on his favourite footy team - The Dolphins!

Isaac Scales

Secondary Teacher

Isaac teaches Design and Technology at ACC Moreton, having felt the call to become a teacher after years working in the Built Environment Industry both designing and on the tools. He enjoys building, creating projects, and will usually be found in the workshop. Beyond teaching he enjoys the outdoors, whether camping, on the water, or 4x4. The World's Greatest Shave is an annual highlight, having participated in every year since 2003 alongside his twin brother. Married since 2010, he has 3 cheeky and wonderful kids.

Nathan Searle

Year 12 Coordinator

Nathan is a passionate teacher who specialises in Chemistry and Technologies. He has a deep love for all things nerdy, including board games, video games, and science fiction movies. However, his greatest passion is for his young family, whom he adores and cherishes. Nathan is committed to equipping his students with the tools that can help them succeed, and also in demonstrating the joy that Jesus can bring to their lives.

Julie Faint

Secondary Teacher

Julie Faint loves teaching and guiding the hearts and minds of students to be the best version of themselves. Passionate about uncovering hidden talents, she enjoys fostering students' God given abilities in the practical setting of her Hospitality classes. With a wealth of experience ranging from primary to high school and even home-schooling, Julie has honed her teaching skills over the years. She cherishes her family, living on the beautiful Sunny Coast with her husband, four children, four in-law children, and three grandchildren. Julie enjoys swimming in the ocean and the outdoors, always walking alongside God in her daily life.

Jennifer Kingi

Secondary Teacher

Jennifer has been teaching for nearly 30 years, with experience in a diverse range of subjects across all year levels. She attained a Masters in Gifted Education as she really loves to see all students have a chance to grow and excel in their learning. With a love for travel, Jennifer has lived and worked in the US and the UK and visited many other countries along the way. Outside of school Jennifer loves spending time with her husband, her dogs, her family and friends, as well as dabbling in whatever art activities she can find.

Kirsty Hay

Primary Teacher

Kirsty is a primary teacher with a passion for seeing students discover a love for learning and succeeding in whatever God wants them to do. She enjoys the challenges and joys of distance education which offer opportunities for connecting with students from diverse backgrounds. Born and raised in Zimbabwe she has travelled widely but proudly calls the Sunshine Coast home. Kirsty worked as a Veterinary Technician for seven years and has a passion for all creatures great and small. Her free time is largely spent with her two dogs at the beach!

Laura Olivier

Primary Teacher

Laura teaches in the Primary School and has taught in South Africa, England and Australia. She is passionate about literacy in the Early Years and thrives on seeing her students succeed. Laura enjoys spending time with her young family at the beach, the zoo and museums in her spare time. She is so grateful to be able to teach at a Christian School where she can share her love of God with all of her students.

Anilo Fouche

Learning Enrichment Teacher

Anilo is a high school Learning Enrichment Teacher with three decades of teaching experience, with the last 16 years dedicated to supporting students with diverse learning needs. This focus has become her passion, as she thrives on building relationships with students' families, celebrating their progress, and guiding them to discover their God-given purpose. Beyond her role as an educator, she cherishes family life. She is happily married and cherishes her two wonderful sons, her two in-law children, and her beloved granddaughter. In her free time, she enjoys travelling, reading, and photography.

Jennifer Latham

Secondary Teacher

Jennifer has worked in the education field for more than 20 years, with the last 8 years as a fully qualified teacher. Teaching is in the blood, as all her siblings teach as well. She is passionate about ‘stopping for the one’ both in teaching and in everyday life. I love being able to help students believe in themselves and see them achieve their goals. In her free time, Jennifer loves all things creation, and often goes out early in the morning to photograph sunrises. She thoroughly enjoys time with her family and friends, particularly being able to speak into the lives of her three grandchildren. Her bucket list includes lots of adventures including travelling around Australia.

Gary Freudigmann

Secondary Teacher

Gary has just made the switch to Secondary Distance Education after 25 years within the On-campus education world. Gary also teaches at a tertiary level which enables him to develop a progressive understanding of the education process. Gary is passionate about the best husband and father he can be. Gary is also passionate about helping students develop a greater understanding and appreciation of the structure and function of the intricately God designed human body whether if be during exercise or activities of daily living.

John Furnivall

Secondary Teacher

John is a senior teacher and enjoys helping and guiding students in their learning. One of John's favourite things about Distance Education is that it allows for students to learn wherever they may be, access a range of resources and get help in areas that they are finding challenging. Outside of teaching, John enjoys getting outdoors, working on projects around the house and spending time with his wife and their dog, Bailey.
